NSU welcomes new students
North South University (NSU) welcomed the newly enrolled students in undergraduate and graduate orientation ceremony, fall 2017 held yesterday on its Bashundhara campus, says a press release.
In this orientation programme freshers get enrolled under the departments of BBA, MBA, ETE, EEE, Economics, Environmental Science, Architecture, English, Computer Science and Engineering, Law, Pharmacy, Microbiology and Biochemistry.
In total 24 meritorious students were awarded full and partial scholarships for their outstanding result in the admission test fall 2017 under the NSU scholarship scheme.
Md. Sohrab Hossain, Secretary, Ministry of Education delivered speech as the chief guest. Mohammed Shajahan, Chairman, NSU Board of Trustees was present as the Special Invitee. The programme was chaired by Prof. Atiqul Islam, Vice Chancellor, NSU.
Prof. G.U. Ahsan, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Designate) and Dean, School of Health and Life Sciences, Prof. Mohammad Mahbub Rahman, Dean, School of Business and Economics, Prof. M. Rokonuzzaman, Dean, School of Engineering and Physical Sciences, Prof. Abdur Rob Khan, Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Mr. Shahjahan, Registrar, Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Khan, Proctor, NSU were present at the occasion.
Orientation programme held at IU
An orientation programme was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia at Birshresta Hamidur Rahman Auditorium, said a press release.
Institute of Islamic Education and Research (IIER) arranged the event around 10am.
IU Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari was present as the chief guest while Professor Dr Maher Ali, Director of IIER in the chair.
Professor Dr Robiul Hossain conducted IU Pro-Vice-chancellor Professor Dr M Shahinoor Rahman and Its Treasurer Professor Dr Md Selim Toha attended as special guest.
East West University emerges champion in debate contest
The East West University (EWU) has emerged champion in the TIB-Gold Bangladesh 3rd National Debate Competition held at Rajshahi University. EWU became champion beating Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in final round of the contest at university Deans Complex at 5:00 pm on Thursday. Md. Mahmudul Hasan of the champion team was named best speaker for his outstanding performance in the contest.
Following the final round, Executive Director of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Dr. Iftekharuzzaman handed over certificates and prizes among the winners.
30 JU students get Dilara-Mujib Trust scholarship
A total of 30 students of Government Politics department of Jahangirngar University (JU) get Dilara-Mujib Trust scholarship.
The executive body of the trust handed over the stipend money to the students in a ceremony at the seminar room of the department on Thursday.
The chairman of the department Professor Dr Shamsunnahar Khanam, Professor Dr Nasim Akhter Hussain, Professor Dr K M Mohiuddin, Professor Dr Bashir Ahmed, Lecturer Dr Sanwar Shiraj, Ittekher Ahmed Bhuyan, Mohammed Tarikul Islam and Kamrul Hasan were present at the programme among others. Mentionable, Dilara-Mujib Trust was launched scholarship only for the students of the Government and Politics (GP) department on 31 January in last year.
IUTA donates Tk 6, 81,785 for teacher
The members of Islamic University Teachers Association (IUTA) donated Tk 6, 81,785 for treatment of Professor Sohidul Islam Nuri, Chairman of Dawah Islamic Studies department of the university, yesterday.
IUTA President Professor Dr M Mahbubur Rahman handed the check of the amount over Dr Nuri at IUTA office on the campus. IUTA former president Professor Yeaqub Ali, Vice-president Professor Dr Saidur Rhaman, Secretary Professor Dr Anowarul Haque, Proctor Professor Dr Mhabubor Rahman and Professor Dr Jahangir Alom were present here.
