Man runs over in Keraniganj
A passenger of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw was killed as a truck hit it at Postogola in Keraniganj upazila on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Md Barkat Ali, 40, a mason, hailing from Jurain area in the capital.
Sub-inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost, said the accident took place when a truck hit the CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the first China Maitree Bridge at night, leaving the auto-passenger injured critically.
Later, locals rushed him to DMCH where duty doctor declared him dead.
After viscera report, the body has been kept at morgue and informed Keraniganj Police Station as the accident took place in that area, Bachchu Mia added.
Road crash kills Juba Dal leader
A Juba Dal leader was killed and another injured when a bus hit a motorbike on Dhaka-Aricha road in Savar early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Lalon Hawladar Rajon, 30, vice-president of Tentuljhora union unit Juba Dal and son of Waliullah Hawladar of Joynabari area while the injured was identified as Hasan Mia, 28.
Witnesses said the accident took place when the bus hit the motorbike while it was taking u-turn after loading fuel from a local petrol pump in the dead of night, leaving the two motorbike riders injured.
Later, they were taken to Enam Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Rajon dead.
A case was filed with Savar Police Station, said its OC Mahsinul Quadir.
New CJFD executives formed
Special Correspondent of the Dainik Jugantor Mujib Masud has unanimously been elected president of Chittagong Journalists Forum Dhaka (CJFD) while Special Correspondent of the Daily Sun Shamim Jahangir its general secretary of for the next one year.
The committee was formed at the CJFD annual general meeting held its office at Swandip Bhaban in the capitals Motijheel area on Friday held with CJFD President Md Mustafa Kamal in the chair.
CJFD General Secretary Mujib Masud and Finance Secretary Shibu Kanti Das presented their reports at the meeting.
The newly elected office bearers of CJFD are: Vice-president - Shahed Siddiqui (The Independent), Joint Secretary- Morshed Noman (Prothom Alo), Finance Secretary- Shibu Kanti Das (Dainik Purbakon), Office, Publicity and Publication Secretary- Towhidur Rahman (ETV), Sports and Cultural Secretary -Mosharraf Hossain (Amar Desh).
