KHULNA: Cultural Affairs Secretary Ibrahim Hossain Khan yesterday unveiled a memorial titled ‘Ganohattya Smrity Falak’, built in memory of freedom fighters of Liberation War, on Ajogora Secondary School premises under Terokhada upazila in Khulna, reports BSS.
President of the School Managing Committee Mallick Sudhangshu presided over the ceremony while joint secretary of the ministry Md Abdul Mannan Elias, and headmaster of the school Ramendranath Mallick, were present, among others.
Later, the cultural secretary unveiled another memorial in the memory of freedom fighters at the mass grave in front of Daulatpur Post Office in the city.
Daulatpur Thana Unit Awami League president Sheikh Sayed Ali chaired the function. Freedom fighters, educationists, philanthropists and elites were present, among others.
In his speech, the chief guest said the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ensured punishment against war criminals who committed crimes against humanity during Liberation War.
Pakistani occupation forces had killed thousands of people in Ajogora and Daulatpur areas during Liberation War.
