RAJSHAHI: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday inaugurated six development projects and laid the foundation stones of 16 other schemes involving Taka 700 crore, reports BSS.
The premier inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of the 22 projects by unveiling their plaques from Harian Sugar Mills Ground here yesterday afternoon.
The projects inaugurated by the premier included Paba Upazila Health Complex upgradation, six-storied building of Urban Primary Healthcare Centre and Bagmara Upazila Parishad building extension and hall room construction.
She also laid the foundation stones of 16 development schemes including Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hi-tech Park.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hi-tech Park is being established involving around Taka 281.91 crore on 31.63 acres of land in Nabinagar area in the city. It will create employment opportunity for around 14,000 youths. Other projects whose foundation stones were laid by the premier included divisional and district family planning building, river bank protection embankment, freedom fighters complex, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Square, Rajshahi Shishu Hospital and development of two residential areas. While four academic buildings of school and colleges in four upazilas will be constructed involving Taka 97 crore.
Officials said the Education Engineering, Health Engineering, Water Development Board, Local Government Engineering, Rajshahi Development Authority and Public Works will implement the projects.
