Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the International Cricket Council (ICC) David Richardson has said that more tournaments will be staged in the country if the law and order situations remains peaceful, reports SAMA TV news.

He made the statement in a media briefing in Lahore alongside Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi on Wednesday.

Richardson said that security is a global issue and all countries and sports have been affected by it. He added that law and order situation in Pakistan has improved.

He added that Independence Cup series against World XI will prove to be beneficial to the return of international cricket in Pakistan.

Richardson went on to say that ICC is trying to make countries tour Pakistan.

The ICC official stated that they cannot pressurize India into touring Pakistan if they are not ready.

Sethi, speaking on the occasion, said that it would have been impossible to organize the ongoing series against World XI without Richardson’s assistance as he played a key role in bringing international cricket back to Pakistan. “Whoever does not want to play against Pakistan is harming themselves,” he said.  He added that more teams will continue to tour Pakistan after the Independence Cup.

He added that “ICC Zindabad” slogans were also chanted during the first Twenty20 of the Independence Cup.

The PCB chairman stated that the green shirts have won the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 and will win the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup

Richardson said that ICC is focusing towards having Pakistan Super League organised in Pakistan. the ICC executive also said that there are chances of an international ICC event to happen in Pakistan if processes go fine henceforth.

He expressed his happiness over visiting Pakistan for the second time.

The ICC chief acknowledged cricket board s efforts in revival of the international cricket in Pakistan.

He cited tensions for no Pakistan-India series so far.

The ICC executive thanked the people of Pakistan and the media for a successful event. On the occasion, Sethi said that PCB would organise international matches in Karachi as well.
