Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon yesterday said Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport now has world standard security following the installation of modern equipments, reports BSS.
“We have installed Explosive Detection System (EDS), Explosive Trace Detector (ETD), and 37 duel-view ex-ray machines at the airport. With this, we would be able to ensure safe air transport of passengers and goods everywhere,” Menon said after inspecting trial run of EDS at the airport.
The minister hoped that with the installation of modern security equipments, the United Kingdom, Germany and Australia would withdraw the temporary ban that they imposed on direct cargo transportation through this airport.
Menon also inspected the cargo management, ground handling and passenger service during the visit. He directed to ease cargo congestion quickly through rapid ground handling. He also gave a 30-day ultimatum to ensure improved passenger services.
