Three get life term for raping girl in Cnawabganj

A court in Chapainwabganj yesterday sentenced three people to life imprisonment and fined them of Taka 1,00,000 each for raping a girl in Shibganj upazila in 2013.
Judge of the Chapainawabganj Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 and District and Session judge Md Ziaur Rahman gave this verdict in presence of the convicts.
The people who got life-term imprisonment are Md Ziarul Islam, 28, Nazrul Islam, 40, and Md Eju alias Nazu, 49.
Ziarul Islam is a resident of Mirzapur village while Nazrul Islam and Nazu were inhabitants of Gaisapara under the upazila.
The prosecution story, in brief, is that the 14-year-old daughter of one Mazharul Islam of Chandipur village under Shibganj upazila went to her maternal aunt house at Kasiabari village on August 20, 2013.
At around 1 am at that night Ziarul along with his accomplices kidnapped the girl from the house and raped her in Garpara area and left her there.
Father of the victim filed a rape case accusing five persons next day with Shibganj Thana.
Later, Investigation Officer of the case Sub-inspector Abul Kalam Azad submitted a chargesheet to the court against the trio leaving other two people on November 21, 2013.
After hearing the witnesses and examining other documents the court found them guilty and announced the verdict.
