30 fake FFs identified in Sakhipur

Some 30 fake freedom fighters (FFs) have been identified in Sakhipur upazila of Tangail district. Muktijhoddha Sangsad of Sakhipur sent the names of fake FFs to the concerned ministry for dropping those from the list.
Sources at the local command council said most of the fake freedom fighters are found to be underage, rajaker, collaborators and those who did not fight during 1971. They have been enlisted during BNP-led Jote government, they claimed.
They said one Prof. Mustafizur Rahman of village Kirtankhola was enlisted during BNP government as he was president of Upazila BNP and joint-secretary of Tangail district BNP, whose gazette number is 4350. He was a minor boy during 1971 and got enlisted by using party influence, it is alleged. Mustafizur said that he did not fight, but he helped the freedom fighters. He is not drawing allowance. Nayeb Uddin Nazim of village Hoteya no 0118070663 vide Muktibarta was a rajaker during 1971. Nayeb Uddin said that he joined as rajaker, but later he escaped from the camp and joined Muktibahini and fought under company commander Mokaddes Ali.
Freedom fighter Md. Kholilur Rahman of village Hoteya said Nayeb Ali did not fight with them.
Mozammel Hoque, son of Asgor Ali of village Koyamadhu Sena having Gazette no 2709, was a collaborator during Liberation War. But he demands himself as a true freedom fighter. Kazi Ali Azom of village Chokdaha with gazette no 3985 was also a collaborator during the period. But he calls himself as a true freedom fighter. Azahar Hossain of village Kochua with no 0118070714 was a minor boy during liberation war and the command recommends delisting of his name. He draws FF’s allowance.
Abdus Sabur of village Kliapara Muktibarta with no 0118070965 was found to be a fake freedom fighter, who refused to supply water to a wounded bullet-hit freedom fighter during liberation war. Sabur denied the charge and said that commander out of enmity brought false charges against him. Md. Abdul Aziz of village Gohailbari Muktibarta, no 0118070862, was a soldier posted in Pakistan during liberation war. His younger brother Lutfor Rahman was a minor boy. But they both claimed that they fought under Commander Abdus Sabur.

The Upazila Command Council after investigation sent the list to the ministry of Liberation War to drop their names. He said it is unfortunate that there are fake members in FF list. Ferhad Hossain, Upazila Samaj Seba officer, said the government pays allowance after scrutiny. The allowances will be distributed according to the latest list prepared by the present government. If anybody drops from the list he will not the paid any allowance.
