Innovative access to national identity (NID) database of the Bangladesh Election Commi-ssion is needed to promote Digital Financial Services (DFS) to the excluded and marginalized groups of the country, said stakeholders at a Digital Finance Consultative Group (DFCG) dialogue in the capital yesterday, reports BSS.
Shaping Inclusive Finance Transformations (SHIFT) project of the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) hosted the dialogue titled ‘Emerging Frontiers of DFS in Bangladesh: Digital Identity and eKYC’, said a media release.
Ashraful Alam of UNCDF chaired the dialogue. Bangladesh Bank (BB) Executive Director Mijanur Rahman Joddar attended it as the chief guest and BTRC Director Lt Col Mohammad Azizur Rahman Siddiqui and Managing Director of Bank Asia Limited Arfan Ali attended as special guests.
DG in Charge of National Identity Registration Wing of EC Alimuzzaman delivered key note speech and speakers included Chairman of Palli Sanchoy Bank Dr. Mihir Kanti Majumder, Major General (Retd.) Sheikh Monirul Islam of bKash, Zahid Mansur of Dutch Bangla Bank Ltd, Feisal Hussain of Business Finance for the Poor in Bangladesh (BFP-B), SureCash CEO Shahadat Khan, Rasheda Sultana of Grameen Phone, took part in the discussion.
