German expert meets DU VC
Karsten Bechtel, a bio-energy expert of Germany, on Monday called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman at his latters office on the campus.
Director of the Institute of Energy of DU Prof Dr Saiful Huque and Assistant Prof Dr SM Nasif Shams were present on the occasion, said a DU press release in Dhaka.
During the meeting, they stressed the need for development of renewable energy sector in Bangladesh.
They also discussed the possibilities of setting up bio-energy testing lab at the Institute of Energy of DU with the financial assistance and technological support from Germany, the release added.
Freshers reception at SEU held
26th batch of Pharmacy department of Southeast University (SEU) organised Freshers reception cultural programme for the newly admitted students of summer semester 2017, says a press release.
The programme was held on 11 September 2017 in the seminar hall, SEU main building, Banani, Dhaka.
Vice-chancellor of SEU Prof Dr ANM Meshquat Uddin chaired the discussion while Dr Md Siddiqul Islam, Chairman of Pharmacy department delivered the welcome speech. M Kamaluddin Chowdhury, representative member of the Board of Trustees, SEU Trust attended as the guest of honour. Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed, SPP, psc (Retd), Registrar of SEU was present at the program as the special guest.
Prof ABM Faroque, Professor Former Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Dhaka and Adviser of Pharmacy department, SEU was present as the chief guest. He discussed about the lab facilities and job placement of Pharmacy department, SEU.
Among others, chairman and director of different departments, faculty members and students of pharmacy department were present at the programme.
Application submission for RU admission test starts
RAJSHAHI: Submission of application for admission in first year honours classes in 2017-18 academic session of Rajshahi University (RU) has been started through online since Sunday and it will continue till 12 midnight on September 24.
The admission test will be held from October 22 to 26, Aslam Hossain, Deputy Registrar of Academic Section, confirmed this information.
This time, the students who passed SSC and its equivalent examinations from 2012 to 2015 and HSC and its equivalent examinations in 2016 and 2017 can submit their application forms.
Admission test related all information will be available in http://admission.ru.ac.bd/ website, he added.
JU holds tree plantation campaign today
Tree Plantation Campaign-2017 will be held today at the Jahangirnagar University (JU) for further beautification of the university and maintaining ecological balance on the campus.
JU authorities will organise this campaign.
JU Registrar Abu Bakar Siddique confirmed it through a release yesterday.
About 10 am, JU Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Farzana Islam will be expected to inaugurate the event as chief guest besides the pond of JU School College.
Pro-VC Professor Abul Hossain (academic), Pro-VC Professor Amir Hussain (administration) and Treasurer Professor Md Manzurul Huq will address the event as special guest.
