RANGPUR: The artisans are passing busiest time to make idols of Goddess Durga as preparations are afoot to celebrate the upcoming greatest religious festival of the Hindu community, Durga Puja, in the district, reports BSS.
President of Rangpur district unit of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad (BPUP) Advocate Rothish Chandra Bhowmick Babu Sona today said more than 800 Durga Puja mandaps, including 127 in Rangpur city, are being erected in the district.
“Preparations are continuing in full swing to celebrate the five-day Durga Puja festivity from September 26 to 30 next with due religious fervour, gaiety and solemnity everywhere in Rangpur,” Bhowmick said.
Beginning from September 26, the festival will end on September 30 next through celebration of the Bijoya Dashami with immersion of the idols of Goddess Durga, he added.
Police Super Mizanur Rahman said the Durga Puja festivity will be celebrated at all mandaps amid tight security measures in the district this year. “To ensure peaceful celebrations of Durga Puja, special security measures would be taken,” the Police Super added.
Talking to BSS, artisan Manoranjan Paul at Anondomoyee Sebashram Mandir in the city said, “I am passing my busiest time now to complete erection of the idols of Goddess Durga with artistic creativity and colours.”
