Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket Team will travel to Sylhet on September 18 to hold their week-long intense practice session ahead of the bilateral home series against promising Asian cricket team Afghanistan.
The series will be a five-match one-day affair, which is scheduled to kick-start in Sylhet on September 28 and will end in Dhaka on October 7.
The south Asian country is slated to arrive here in Dhaka on September 25, just three days before the outset of the series.
The first four matches of the series will be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (SICS) on September 28, 30 and October 2, 4 respectively.
The fifth and last match of the five-match series will be decided at the newly-furbished Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) on October 27.
Sponsored by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the youth Tigers will play the five-match one-day series against the visiting side prior to their ACC Under-19 Asia Cup-2017, which will be held in Malaysia in November though it was previously scheduled to be held in India.
In the aspects of Pakistan’s reluctance to travel to India, the apex body of the Asian Cricket decided unanimously to shift the tournament in Malaysia in their Colombo meeting last month.
Earlier Bangladeshi youth was scheduled to play a tri-nation series with the involvement of Sri Lanka and India, who proposed to organise the series but later they didn’t show their interest. As a result, the triangular series of the youth did not come ahead.
Actually all the series and tournament have been arranged as part of the preparation for the forthcoming ICC Under-19 World Cup, which will be held in New Zealand in between January and February.
