A group of activists of Bangladesh Chatra League, affiliate student body of ruling Awami League, allegedly vandalised the principal's room and office room of Bogra Govt Shah Sultan College yesterday afternoon after a BCL leader was expelled from exam for fraud.
The BCL later expelled those responsible for the attack, said sources.
When asked about the incident, Biswajit Saha, the president BCL of the Shah Sultan College Branch said, “The Principal is taking Tk 300 for the ICT Lab from the students beyond the rules. We have only protested this irregularity.”
Principal of the Government Shah Sulatan College Professor Md. Azazul Haque said, “Immediately after the expulsion of a student, BCL activists came to my room and behaved indecently. At one stage they vandalised office furniture.”
Regarding the alleged extra fees he said there was no question of any irregularity as the money is taken as per the rule.
Sources said, a teacher took away the examination paper of Joaber Hasan alias Joy, a BCL leader, for fraud. On Monday, when students came for a practical examination, the college principal expelled the student from the exam hall. Later, BCL activists attacked the principal's office and vandalised furniture, tables and chairs in the office. They also hurled abuses at the principal. Later, other teachers came to the spot and rescued the principal from the wrath of BCL activists.
