An eight-member high-level BNP team led by Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas is going to Cox’sbazar today to distribute relief among the Rohingyas, who fled to Bangladesh to escape persecution by the Myanmar military, reports UNB. The team will begin its journey to Kutupalong refugee camp in Ukhiya at 8:00am, confirmed BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu. The other members of the team are—standing committee members Dr Abdul Moin Khan and Nazrul Islam Khan, and senior leaders Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Abdullah Al Noman, Dr AZM Zahid Hossain and Shamsuzzaman Dudu.
Source said the BNP team will distribute dry food, medicines and essentials among the refugees and local leaders would decide as to where they would start the distribution of relief.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the party at its headquarters at Naya Paltan in the capital yesterday with party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in the chair.
Meanwhile, the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) will conduct a three-day free medical camp in Ukhiya from September 13. Dr Zahid Hossain will inaugurate the camp.
