MoU signed with North South University to promote national interests
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the North South University (NSU) on Sunday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote public good and national interests. Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque and Vice Chancellor Prof Atique Islam signed the MoU on behalf of the Foreign Ministry and the North South University respectively.
Both sides have the potential to develop global citizenship, understanding of global issues and universal liberal values in an increasingly globalised world, said the Foreign Ministry. As per the MoU, both parties will engage in cooperation in the fields of wide common interest, expertise and shall engage in development of collaborative educational activities, programmes in mutually agreed areas on a not-for-profit basis.
Different activities will be undertaken to enhance the exchange, creation and promotion of knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable development and international politics, business and relations.
Both parties will collaborate in development of short and longer duration course, study, exchange initiatives, programmes involving inter alia academics, experts, practitioners, serving or retired diplomats, scholars from the ministry and the university for research, training and capacity building purposes.
The Foreign Service Academy (FSA) will be engaged in a befitting manner for the execution of the programme mentioned in the MoU.
The ministry will also engage Bangladesh missions abroad to leverage the above-mentioned activities or in drawing up innovative initiatives that would contribute to long-term developmental or strategic interests of Bangladesh.
The Foreign Secretary hoped this MoU will help develop global citizenship and collaborate in the field of education and research, particularly in international politics, business and relations through exchanging and sharing knowledge.
The NSU VC termed the signing of MoU as a glorious era of cooperation between the Public and the Private sector.
During the signing ceremony, North South University Chairman of Board of Trustee Md Shajahan, Pro-VC (designate) Professor Giasuddin Ahsan, Dean of School of Business and Economics Professor Dr. Mahboob Rahman, Director of External Affairs Dr. Katherine Li and Director General (West Europe and European Union) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mohammad Khorshed Alam Khastagir were present.
Masters’ exams of Dhaka University-affiliated seven colleges begin
Final examinations for masters' of MA, MSS, MSC, and MBS (old and new syllabus) students of seven colleges that were affiliated with Dhaka University (DU) began on Sunday.
DU Vice-chancellor Professor Dr M Akhtaruzzaman visited the exam center of Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College and Begum Badrunnesa Government Mohila College, said a DU press release.
According to the schedule, the exams will end on October 31.
The affiliated colleges are Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Government Shaheed Suhrawrdy College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Mohila College, Mirpur Government Bangla College, and Government Titumir College.
Online registration of KU admission starts
KHULNA: Online registration of the admission test for first-year honours courses of Khulna University (KU) under 2017-18 academic year began on Sunday and continue till October 9.
The decision came out from a general meeting of the university admission tests committee headed by Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md Fayequzzaman held at the VC's conference room on August 3, said a KU press release yesterday issued by S M Atiar Rahman, director-in-charge of Mass Communication and Publication Division of KU.
According to the press release, the admission seekers have been asked to apply through e-mail 'www.ku.ac.bd and kuadmission.online during the schedule period.
The admission test will be held on November 11 at the campus in three phases dividing six Schools (faculty) and one Institute into three units.
On November 11, the admission test for Science Engineering and Technology School and Live Science School will be held from 8.30am to 10am under 'A' unit, while Management and Business Administration School and Social Science School will be held from 12 noon to 1.30 pm under 'C' unit.
Arts and Humanity School, Law School and Fine Art Institute will be held from 3 pm to 4.30 pm under 'B' unit.
A total of 1,199 students will be admitted in 28 disciplines under six schools and one institute. The students have been asked for not bring mobile phone or any electronics devices during the exams.
The admission seekers are asked to visit (www.ku.ac.bd) and (kuadmission.online) for detailed information. Besides, admission seekers have been asked to communicate with Dean of concerned School during office hours or cell phone number- 01703611109, 01712359608 and 01556327406.
IU Finance Dept gets new chairman
ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY: Assistant Professor Sutap Kumar Ghosh has been appointed as the new chairman of Finance and Banking Department of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia, said sources at IU registrar office on Sunday.
IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif told UNB that IU Vice-chancellor appointed Sutap Kumar Ghosh to the post for the next three-year term.
He was replaced by Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari, acting chairman of the department, also the Vice-Chancellor of the university, he added.
“Bangladesh Third National Debate Competition begins at RU today
A three-day long “Bangladesh Third National Debate Competition-2017” will begin today at Rajshahi University (RU). Besides, a seminar also will be arranged on the Deans’ Complex of the campus.
In assistance with TIB (Transparency International Bangladesh), Group of Liberal Debaters Bangladesh (Gold-Bangladesh) will arrange the programme where more than thirty two public and private universities debater groups have expected to patriciate in the programme.
Group of Liberal Debaters Bangladesh of RU unit president Sohrab Hossaion confirmed it through a press conference yesterday around 10am while Mass Communication and Journalism dept(MCJ) of RU and also moderator of the programme Prof Mamun Abdul Kayum , former treasurer of the campus Prof Dr Abdus Salam were present there.
