Mother, children among 4 shot dead at French railway station

Four people, including a woman and her two young children, were killed in a shooting at Noyon train station in Oise of northern France yesterday, reports Sunday Express. The victims were gunned down around 11.30am local time. Victims included two youngsters aged just three and five, their mother and a man who may have been a family friend, according to Le Parisien. It is thought the group were trying to leave the city when the attack happened.

After the shooting, an alleged gunman killed himself. There were conflicting reports about whether an accomplice fled on foot. The station was put on lockdown by armed police as a helicopter buzzed overhead. A police spokesman said he did not think the incident was terror related. He said: ”There are four confirmed deaths, they have been killed by gunfire.” Public prosecutor Virginie Girard said the shooter had “obviously died after the incident”.
