DSE indices reach new high

The major price indices of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) reached a new high yesterday on higher activities of some large cap securities, reports BSS.

DSEX finished the day with 52.50 points up at 6,167.49 which were the highest since introduction of the DSEX on January 27, 2013.

The DSES for Shariah-based companies and DS30 for the blue chip scrips also followed the same trend with 20.38 points up at 1368.24 and 22.93 points up at 2,201.44 respectively which were the highest since introduction of the indices.

The rising major sectors were cement and insurance. A total of 124 large-cap securities moved up due to higher activities.

The day’s trade value at DSE increased to Tk 1,259.90 crore from Thursday’s Tk 1,144.27 crore and the daily trade also rose to 39.43 crore share from 35.83 crore share of the previous session.

At DSE, out of the day’s 329 securities, prices of 143 securities closed higher against 158 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were Lafarge Surma Cement, Meghna Cement, City Insurance, Miracle Industries and Provati Insurance.

The major losing issues were Dulamia Cotton, BSRM Limited, Savar EFR, SHYAMPSUG and USMANIAGL. Lanka Bangla Finance topped the turnover list followed by Premier Bank, Square Pharma, NBL and Lafarge Surma Cement.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 141.39 points up at 19,115.17.

At CSE, 267 were issues traded. Of those, 109 closed higher and 134 closed lower while 2.49 crore shares worth Tk 77.59 crore changed hands.
