Comilla road accident kills one
A man was killed in a road accident in Mirshani area on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Comilla on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Mohiuddin, son of Amzad Hossian, hailing from Adabar area in Dhaka.
Mohammad Rahmat Ullah, additional superintendent of highway police (Comilla circle), said a Chittagong-bound bus of Hanif Paribahan hit a road island in the area in the morning and then overturned, leaving one of its passengers dead on the spot and six others injured.
On information, police recovered the body and sent the injured to Comilla Medical College Hospital, he added.
11 jailed for immoral activities
A mobile court in Rajshahi on Friday afternoon convicted 11 persons including three women and sentenced them to different jail terms for their involvement in immoral activities.
On a tip-off, a police team conducted a sudden raid in Green Hotel at Baneshwar Bazar under Puthiya Upazila in the district around 6.30pm and arrested them after searching different rooms of the hotel.
Afterwards, the arrested persons were produced before a mobile court. The court led by Executive Magistrate Nazmun Nahar pronounced the verdict based on their confessional statements and other circumstantial evidences.
