CHITTAGONG: The body of an 11-year-old girl, who was swept away along with her sister and mother by onrush of hill water in the Halda River in Mirerkhil area of Hathazari upazila, was recovered on Sunday morning.
Jakir Hossain, senior station officer of Fire Service and Civil Defense, Chittagong, said a woman Kohinur Akter, 40, along with her two daughters - Baishakhi, 11, and Liza, 12 -- were washed away by onrush of water from upstream at 10:30 am in the area while they were catching floating pieces of wood from the river.
On information, fire servicemen rushed to the spot and rescued the woman alive. Later, they recovered the body of Baishakhi while Liza is still missing, he added.
The fire servicemen are conducting search operation for the missing girl. The body will be sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
