Benapole: A businessman, who was abducted from Noakhali on August 3, was rescued from Benapole border area on Monday night, reports UNB.
The rescued was identified as Kalam Uddin, 40, a resident of Mirzapur area of Noakhali and a hardware businessman.
Sub-inspector of Benapole Port police station said a group of criminals abducted Kalam at gunpoint on the evening of August 3 when he was returning home from a local bazar.
Four days after the abduction, Kalam was taken to Benapole by the abductors who demanded Tk 2 lakh as ransom.
Being informed by the family members of Kalam, police started tracing the abductor’s phone number and detected their
location.
Later, police conducted a raid at Suncity Hotel in Benapole at around 9:30pm and rescued Kalam from there.
However, the abductors managed to flee from the spot.
