Two get life for keeping drugs in C’nawabganj

A court in Chapainwabganj sentenced two people to life-term imprisonment for keeping illegal drugs.

The court also fined them Tk 20,000 each, in default, to suffer six months more in jail.

The convicted are Soyebur Rahman, 55, son of Dost Mohammad of Bagdurgapur village under Shibganj upazila of the district and M Mojibur Rahman, 40, son of Sadol Ibrahim of the same area.

According to the prosecution, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 arrested the duo with 200 grams of heroin from Kansat Gopalnagar square area of Shibganj upazila on March 2, 2016.

RAB filed a case against them on the same night with Shibganj police station under Narcotics Control Act.

On May 30, 2016, investigating officer SI Gazi Moazzem Hossain submitted charge-sheet against them to the court.

After examining eight witnesses and evidences, Additional District and Session Judge M Ziaur Rahman gave the verdict in presence of the convicted persons.
