The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) on Monday proposed a new system to prevent question leakage in the public examinations.
Prof Dr Md Mostofa Akbar of the CSE department presented the model named "Secured, Monitored, Automated, Real-Time (SMART) Printing Solution" at a national conference on 'Initiative of digital question system to prevent question linkage in the public examinations and the reality' on the Buet campus yesterday.
Through a power point presentation, Dr Akbar presented process diagram of the digital system by which the place of leaking question can be detected and there will be a little time frame to leak questions.
The printer-based system can also prevent copying of multiple choice questions (MCQ) in the examination halls and leaking those just before the examinations.
QR code will be used which can identify which centre has got the leakage.
Nazrul Islam Khan, secretary of the ministry of education, demanded that the system be modified and made simple and use-friendly.
There is no alternative to forming a digital question system with the technical advice of BUET and other universities. He laid emphasis on keeping printers in the examination centers to print question papers just before the examinations.
Minister for primary and mass education Mostafizur Rahman underlined the need for finding out the best question system through recommendation and discussion to stop corruption like question leakage in the education system.
Vice chancellor of BUET Khaleda Ekram, director general of the directorate of primary and mass education Md Alamgir, Prof Dr Mohammad Kaykobad of CSE department of BUET and VC of National University Prof Dr Munaz Ahmed Nur also exchanged their views at the discussion.
