Teenage boy electrocuted
SYLHET: A teenage boy died after being electrocuted in Subidbazar area of the city yesterday morning.
The deceased was Mamun Ahmed, 15. He was working at a restaurant in the city.
Police said Mamun came in contact with a live electric wire while he was going to switch on the water pump of the restaurant around 10.30am. He died on the spot.
Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Sohel Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Kutwali police station, confirmed the incident.  
Woman’s hanging body found
Police recovered the body of a woman, hanging from a tree, at Maglagao village in Sadar upazila yesterday morning.  
The deceased was Manwara begum, 40, wife of Monfor Ali of the village.
Police said being informed police recovered the body and sent it to the Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
There were several injury marks on her body. Prodip, sub-inspector of Jalalabad police station, said police will take legal action after getting autopsy report.   
‘Yaba peddler’ arrested
CHITTAGONG: Police in a drive arrested an alleged drug
trader with 1,670 yaba tablets in Bakalia area of the city yesterday.
The arrestee was Rezaul Karim, 45.
Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge of Bakalia Police Station, acting on a tip-off, a police team searched a
bus in Shah Amanat Bridge area of Bakalia around 1:45am on Tuesday and seized 1,670 yaba tablets from Rezaul’s possession.
A case was filed against the arrestee with Bakalia Police Station under Narcotic Control Act, said Mohsin.
14 shanties gutted in Ctg
CHITTAGONG:  At least 14 shanties were gutted as a fire broke out at a slum in Khejurtola Railway Slum
area under Chandgaon Police Station in the city yesterday.
Fire service officials suspect that the fire originated from an electric short circuit from a house around 2:30am and soon engulfed other 13 houses.
Four units of Chandgaon and Chandanpura Fire
Service Station rushed to the spot and doused the flame after three hours.
The extent of losses in the incident is estimated worth Tk 10 lakh, said Jasim Uddin, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence, Chittagong.
