4 killed in separate incidents

Four people were killed in separate incidents in three districts yesterday, report agencies.

In Laxmipur: Police recovered a hanging body of a young man and floating body of an unidentified youth from two spots of Raipur and Sadar upazilas in the district yesterday.

AKM Azizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Raipur Police Station, said police recovered a hanging body of Abu Sayeed, from Charbangshi area of Raipur upazila in the morning. He said locals spotted the body hanging from a tree and informed police. Later, police recovered it.

Police, however, could not clear whether it was murder or suicide.

Mokter Hossian, officer-in-charge of Chandraganj Police Station, said local people spotted a body of an unidentified youth floating in a water body in Podder Bazar area of Sadar upazila. On information, police recovered the body.

Police suspect that the young man might have been strangled to death, the OC added.

In Bagerhat: Police recovered an unidentified body of a young man from Rampal near Ghoshiakhali river channel of Rampal upazila early yesterday.

Belayet Hossain, officer-in-charge of Rampal Police Station, said local people spotted the body floating in the river and informed police.

Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital yesterday morning.

The body, aged around 30, bore injury marks on its head, added the police.

In Moulvibazar: A man was killed and 10 others injured in a clash between two rival groups in Sadar upazila of the district yesterday. The deceased was identified as Masud Miah, 28, of Shimulia village under Sadar upazila.

After the incident police arrested four people from the spot.

Local people said the clash started around 11 am when a UP Member Mohid led by one group and Raja Miah led another group. They are thronging stones and arrow to each other.

During the clash one Masud Miah died on the spot and 10 others injured were admitted to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital.

Officer-in-Charge of Moulvibazar Model Police Station Sohel Ahmed said the body was sent to hospital for autopsy.

A case was file in this connection.
