Eight people were killed in separate road accidents in Gopalganj and Kushtia yesterday, report agencies.
In Gopalganj: Six people, including two women, were killed and 25 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Borashur area of Kashiani upazila early yesterday.
Jakaria Hossain, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Kashiani Police Station, said that the accident occurred when the Pirojpur-bound bus of Seba Green Line collided with Dhaka-bound cement-laden truck on the highway around 5:30 am, leaving six people dead on the spot and 25 others injured.
Three of the injured were in a critical condition and they were sent to Faridpur Medical College and Hospital, added the OC.
However, the details about the deceased could not be known immediately.
In Kushtia: Two people, including a woman, were killed and eight others injured as a bus collided head-on with a CNG-run autorickshaw in Laxmipur Egaro Mile area in Sadar upazila yesterday afternoon.
One of the deceased was identified as Rabiul Islam, son of Omar Ali of Haripur village of the upazila. The identity of another deceased woman could not be known.
Police said the accident took place on the Kushtia-Jhenidah highway at about 3 pm when the two vehicles collided head-on, leaving 10 passengers of both the vehicles injured.
The injured were sent to Kushtia General Hospital where two succumbed to their injuries.
