Tanjina Toma mesmerises audience at Nat’l Museum

Popular Tagore singer Tanjina Toma mesmerised the audience with her performance at a musical programme at Begum Sufia Kamal auditorium of the National Museum in the capital on Friday. Bangladesh National Museum organised the programme as a part of its regular musical soirees. Toma’s solo performance included the songs of Rabindranath Tagore, DL Roy, Rajanikanta and Atul Prasad Sen.

Before starting her performance, Tanjina Toma paid respect to her Ustad Wahidul Haque and Sanjida Khatun. Then she took the stage and rendered Tagore song ‘Aj Taray Taray Deepto Shikhar Agni Jole, Nidra Bihin Gogon Tole’.

The she rendered 15 Tagore songs including ‘Ami Nishidin Tomay Bhalobasi’, ‘Modhur Modhur Dhwani Baje’, ‘Ebar Abogunthon Kholo’, ‘Dure Kothao Dure Dure’.

Not only Tagore Songs, she also fascinate audience with the songs of  DL Roy, Rajanikanta and Atul Prasad Sen. She rendered Atul Prasad Sen’s ‘Meghera Dal Bendhe Jay Kon Deshe’, DL Roy’s ‘Jachche Bhese Sada Sada’ and Rajanikanta Sen’s ‘Dhire Somire Chanchal Neere’ and others.

During the entire programme, Tanjina Toma was accompanied by Ifthekhar Alam Prodhan Dollar on tabla, Nasir Hossain on guitar and Binod Roy on keyboard.

Singer Toma has been a singer and a teacher for last two decades. She founded Bibhash, a learning centre for music and art, in 2015 which keeps her busy alongside her music and media pursuits. Toma is also a regular presenter in a popular morning programme titled ‘Robir Abeer’ on SATV.

Famous record label Hindusthan Records of India has recently released a solo album of Toma, ‘Hriday Majhe’. The album features eight songs from various segments of ‘Gitabitan’. Toma is indeed quite thrilled with this release, her seventh album from Bangladesh and India. Earlier, HMV (now Sa Re Ga Ma) released her much celebrated album ‘Tumi O Ami’ from India in 2015.  G Series released ‘Khuje Berai’ among her albums that won wide accolades from her fans.
