BPL eighth round resumes today

The eighth round of the Saif Power Battery Bangladesh Premier League will start from today with the reigning champions and the runners up Abahani Limited (Dhaka) and the Chittagong Abahani respectively to firmly remain on title race.

Chittagong Abahani, who are leading the point table after seven rounds will take on Brothers Union in the day’s first match.

Chittagong Abahani and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club are jointly leading the table with obtaining 19 points each from six wins and one draws but the Chittagong outfit on top in goal difference when they scored 11 and conceded one goal and Jamal scored 13 but conceded five goals.

It would be the very vital for the defending runners up to take solo lead, as Sheikh jamal are going ahead along with them and newcomers Saif Sporting are also closely following them.   

May the work will not easy for the league, as Brothers Union in the previous match threw huge challenge to Sheikh Jamal despite finally suffered 1-2 defeat after taking the lead.  On the other hands, the holders Abahani are in very embarrassing situation losing points after sharing points in two matches and suffering a defeat.

Abahani now on fourth position with 14 points and that means there is no way but to win the match to remain strongly in their way to title defense.

Meanwhile, the league will again saw a long interval when after the eight round, league will resume from October 1 or 2, as the committee (league committee) differed for the Under-18 national; football team’s participation in the Under-18 SAFF Championship to be held in Bhutan from September 18-28.
