Eight BNP men sent to jail in Barisal

A Barisal court here yesterday sent eight leaders and activists of Bakerganj upazila BNP unit to jail after rejecting their bail prayers. Earlier, they surrendered before the court. They are accused in cases of political violence. The jailed BNP leaders and activists including former MP of Barisal-6 constituency and president of BNP Bakerganj upazila unit Abul Hosen Khan, local BNP leaders Abdul Kuddus, Nurul Islam, Siraz Sikdar, Juel Talukdar, Shahjahan Khan, Shahin Sikday and Mokbul Hosen Khan. Advocates Sheikh Humayun Kabir Masud, defense lawyers, said 8 leaders and activists of Bakerganj upazila were accused in a case arson attack on Goma-Bakerganj road on January 26, 2015. Md Anwarul Haque, Barisal district and session judge rejected their bail prayers yesterday and ordered them to send to jail, court sources said.
