Hizb-ut-Tahrir man held
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive arrested an activist of the banned Islamic outfit Hizb-ut-Tahrir from the capitals Mohammadpur area on Friday afternoon, reports UNB.
Rabiul Islam, operation officer of RAB-2, said a team of RAB conducted the drive after Jumuah prayers and arrested Mahmudul Hasan Robin, 25, from in front of Baitus Salam Jame Mosque in Iqbal road area. Later, a case was filed with Mohammadpur Police Station.
Road crash kills police constable
COMILLA: A police constable was killed and four other people were injured in a road accident in Charbakar area on Comilla-Sylhet regional highway in Debidwar upazila on Thursday night.
Police said constable Hossian Sarker, 32, son of Nazrul Islam of Pomkara village in Brahmanpara upazila of the district, was returning to his work station Rangamati Police Lines after Eid vacation.
A Companiganj-bound bus of Teesha Paribahan, coming from Dhaka, knocked down the CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying the police official along with two other passengers at Charbakar around 10:15 pm, leaving four people injured, said Md Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Debidwar Police Station. The injured were taken to Debidwar Upazila Health Complex where Hossain Sarker succumbed to his injuries. The body of the police constable was taken to Debidwar Police Station.
