Police in a special drive arrested 33 persons along with contraband yaba tablets and heroin from different parts of the capital city in the last 24 hours till 6 yesterday morning, reports BSS.
They also arrested three criminals with local weapons from the city's Sher-e-Banglanagar Thana area while they were taking preparation to commit robbery on Friday evening.
Police personnel in their overnight latest drive started from 6pm on Friday to 6am today arrested 33 persons on charges of taking and trading drugs from different places of the city, said a police official yesterday.
They seized 726 pieces of yaba tablets, 56 grams heroin, 600 grams cannabis, 20 litres local liquor, and 10 pieces of seductive injections from their possessions, he also said. Separate cases were lodged to this end.
In an identical drive at Green Road area under Sher-e-Banglanagar Police Station around 7.15pm on Friday, police arrested three dacoits identifying them as Rajib (25), Babu Mia (22) and Deen Mohammad (20) along with two knives and one machete while they were taking preparation to commit robbery, police said.
A case was filed against the trio with Sher-e-Banglanagar Police Station to this end.
