Physiotherapists at a seminar cum views-sharing meeting in Rangpur yesterday said physiotherapy and physical exercise could effectively reduce the risks of non-communicable diseases and assist in leading healthier life, reports BSS. They said physiotherapists implement rehabilitative programmes to improve or restore human motor functions, maximise movement ability, relieve pain syndromes and treat or prevent physical challenges associated with injuries, diseases and other impairments.
They made these observations at the event organised by Rangpur divisional unit of Bangladesh Physiotherapy Association (BPA) at Rangpur Press Club (RPC) auditorium in observance of the World Physiotherapy Day- 2017.
The day was observed with the theme of 'Physical Activity for Life' to create mass public awareness about importance of physiotherapy for leading healthier life.
Members of divisional unit of BPA, physiotherapists and local journalists participated in the programmes presided over by Vice-president of RPC Rafikul Islam Sarker.
Vice-president of divisional unit of BPA Dr Saiful Islam narrated about importance of physiotherapy and activities of BPA that tries to achieve legal rights and professional dignity of Bangladeshi physiotherapists for serving the people.
President of divisional unit of BPA Dr Tashiqul Islam Sohag delivered presentation narrating objectives of arranging the events in observance of the day with media persons for creating social awareness about physiotherapy and its benefits.
General Secretary of RPC Rashid Babu, Physiotherapy specialists Dr Sonia Rokhsana, Dr Zubayed Karim and Dr Mostafizur Rahman also spoke. Dr Sohag called upon the journalists for creating awareness about importance and benefits of physiotherapy and physical exercise to prevent deadly non-communicable diseases and recover from those to lead better life.
