4 bus passengers held
Police have arrested four people from the capital in connection with the killing of a bus driver in Saidabad Bus Terminal on Monday night. The arrestees, all passengers of a Shyamoli Paribahan bus, were identified as Rajon Miah, 32, Reazaul Karim, 30, Md Shohel 30 and Kamrul Islam, 26. DMP Additional Deputy Commissioner AKM Jahangir Alam said the arrested were produced before a Dhaka Court seeking seven days remand. The court later granted 2-day police remand of each.
Shibu Chandra De alias Babul, a driver of Shyamoli Paribahan bus, was allegedly beaten to death by a group of angry passengers after the bus arrived late at the Sayedabad Bus Terminal in the capital on Monday night. Babul, 45, hailed from Boyda Nagar of Jafllong in Sylhet district Following the murder, Rima De, wife of the victim filled a murder case against four named and few unnamed passengers with Jatrabari Police Station yesterday. The bus drivers assistant Shamim Hossain told reporters that the inter-district bus from Sylhet was supposed to reach the Janapad crossing at 10 pm. But the bus was delayed by an hour due to heavy traffic in the city. The waiting passengers became angry due to the delay and beat up the driver when the bus reached the spot, he said.
