Magura: At least 10 people were injured in a clash between supporters of Awami League (AL) and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) at Sreekol Bazar in Sreepur upazila on Wednesday evening, reports UNB.
Rezaul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sreepur Police Station, said Sreekol AL President Amir Hossain had a longstanding dispute with local BNP leader Abu Sayed Mandal over establishing supremacy in the area. Following the dispute, a group of BNP activists, led by Abu Sayed Mandal, beat up Amir Hossain and looted his shop at Sreekol Bazar in the evening, triggering a clash which left 10 people injured.
Attackers allegedly vandalised and looted three shops. On information, a team of police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
The injured were admitted to Magura Sadar Hospital.
A case was filed and investigation is going on, the OC added.
