The Anti Corruption Commi-ssion (ACC) has launched a probe into alleged graft in a project to install tube-wells in some 163 primary schools of Bogra district by the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE), reports UNB.
The Commission at its recent meeting decided to probe the allegation.
ACC assistant director Atiqul Islam, attached with the Commission’s Bogra Office, has been appointed as inquiry officer to carry out the probe, official sources said.
According to the allegation received by the ACC, tube-wells had been installed in different primary schools of the district during fiscal 2013-14 under the third Primary Education Development Programme (PEDP-3). It is alleged that DPHE chief engineer (Borga) Anwaruzzaman and project director Saiful Islam colluded to embezzle a huge amount of money in installation of tube-wells in 163 primary schools, the allegations said.
