Saif SC drop two more costly points

Title aspirants Saif Power Sporting Club dropped important points in the Saif Power Battery Bangladesh Premier League football after a goalless draw with Team BJMC yesterday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

Saif Power SC, who are among the top fighters to lift the title, started the with huge prospect, as after the fighting 2-3 defeat in the opener against the defending champions Abahani Limited, they did not look back to win six matches in a row were forced to share points with BJMC after being reduced to a ten-man on 42nd minute.

The newcomers saw two set back when they had to make their start line-up without vital performers Jewel Rana and Ibrahim and had to play with ten men for long 48 minutes when another one of the key performers Tapu Barman got marching order after elbowing of opponents’ defender Shohag.  

Saif Power SC badly needed full points to close the gap with the table toppers Chittagong Abahani Limited and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, who are jointly leading with 19 points each from seven encounters. Saif SC made their tally 16 from seven matches and on third position (in goal difference).

The match began with some good pace but Saif SC not looked at their pick in absence of Jewel Rana and Ibrahim and face tough time in the full second half after being reduced into ten-man.

 However, Saif SC could have taken the lead early in the fifth minute but Valencia, who slammed the only hat-trick in the ongoing league against Farashganj in their previous match, failed touch from very nearer to the post on a Shawadhin’s cross.

Another opportunity was halted by BJMC goalkeeper in the added period when Hemanta’s good was well gripped by Ariful Islam.

After the goalless first half, both Saif SC and BJMC tried hard to score goals while the former could not make any real opportunity and the latter were closer to scored goal but Kingsley Oshiokha failed to marked the target for twice on 52nd and 59th minute.
