Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized a huge quantity of smuggled drugs worth Taka 107.54 crore raiding at different places in the country last month, said a BGB press release in Dhaka yesterday, reports BSS.
The seized drugs included 5, 90,660 pieces of yaba tablets, 8,529 bottles of foreign liquor, 641 liters of local liquor, 27,603 bottles of phensidyl, 2,094 kgs of cannabis, 2 kgs and 550 grams of heroin, 1,06,400 pieces of sedative tablets, 6,405 pieces of injections and 79,44,435 pieces of other tablets. BGB also recovered 10,657 pieces of smuggled sharees, 7, 210 pieces of different types of clothes, 9,798 cubic-feet (CFT) wood and 11.878 kgs of smuggled gold during the drive.
They also arrested 314 persons for their alleged involvement in smuggling of drugs and 113 Bangladeshi citizens on charges of crossing the border illegally.
The arrested persons were later handed over to the concerned police stations.
