Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam B.Sc yesterday said a mechanism to send workers to Malaysia has not been finalised yet, as discussions are in the primary stage, reports UNB.
He requested people interested to go to Malaysia to stay away from advanced financial dealings with anyone before the final decision has been made.
The minister said these after a meeting with a Malaysian technical delegation led by deputy secretary general of the Malaysian Home Ministry Wahab Bin Mohammad Yasin at the Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry in the city.
The minister said Malaysia needs workers in agricultural farm, house keeping and the service sector, for which the Ministry has started training programmes in 71 training institutes for the interested workers.
Malaysia requires 15 lakh workers over the next three years, though it is not yet final how many workers they will accept from Bangladesh, he added. Nurul Islam said the minimum wage for the workers will be 900 Malaysian Ringgit; however, migration cost has not been fixed as yet.
