Stop persecution on Rohingyas

Call Buddhist leaders in Bangladesh
BSS

Leaders of different Buddhist organisations and Supreme Sangha Council (monastic order) yesterday deplored the persecution on Rohingya in Rakhine state of Myanmar, reports BSS from Chittagong.

In a joint statement, they also urged the Nobel peace winner Aung San Suu Kyi to use her conscience for immediate stopping indiscriminate killing,  persecution and grisly attack on Rohingyas.

They said the brutal attack and violence on Rohingyas irrespective of age and gender is nothing but flouting the non-violence and humanism, the principal essence of Buddhism.

The leaders also made a clarion call to the UN, all communities and world leaders to come forward for a peaceful and permanent solution to the Rohingya issues.

“The Buddhists community has been living in a peaceful manner in Bangladesh and they believe in peaceful co-existence of Muslims, Hindus, Christians  and other different ethnic groups”: the statement said.

Simultaneously they called for maintaining communal harmony, peace and amity that had been fostering for ages among all people of Bangladesh irrespective of cast, colour and creed.

The signatories of the statement include Secretary General (SG) of Bangladesh Buddhist Association Sudip Barua, Joint SG of Bangladesh Bouddha Krishti Prachar Sangha Professor Dr Bikiron Prashad Barua, president of Bangladesh Sangaraj Bhikku Mohashaba (Supreme Sangha Council) Venerable Ajitananda Mohathero and its General Secretary (GS) S.
