Seven people were killed in road accidents in Narsingdi and Moulvibazar districts yesterday.
In Narsingdi, six people were killed and 20 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a covered van at Kandail on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Madhabdi upazila yesterday morning, reports UNB.
The deceased were identified as Sumi Begum, 16, Hena Begum, 24 and Rabiullah, 18, of Monohardi upazila in Narsingdi, Mokhles Mia, 55, and Abdul Kadir, 40, of Kuliar Char of Kishoreganj and Abdur Rahman, 48 , driver of the covered van.
Illias, Officer-in-charge of Madhabdi police station, said the Dhaka-bound bus coming from Monohardi of Narsingdi collided with the Bhairab-bound covered van and then both the vehicles fell into a roadside ditch around 7:00 am, leaving four people dead on the spot and 22 others injured.
Among the injured, Mokhles Mia died on way to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital while Abdul Kadir on way to Dhaka for treatment.
In Moulvicazar, a motorcyclist died as a truck crushed him in Sreemangal upazila of the district yesterday, reports BSS.
The motorcyclist identified as Mofazzal Mia, 28, was a resident in Nazirabad area under Moulvibazar Sadar upazila.
Police said the accident took place in the morning at Shurovipara intersection on Moulvibazar-Sreemangal road, leaving him dead on the spot.
The body was sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital for an autopsy. Police seized the truck and detained the driver of the truck.
