Today marks the 21st death anniversary of Salman Shah. The iconic hero of the country’s filmdom passed away on this day in 1996. To observe the occasion in an appropriate manner, Salman Shah’s family and Salman Shah Oikko Parishad will hold programmes which include a milad, doa mahfil and reciting from the Holy Quran today. Salman Shah’s mother Neela Chowdhury, who is also the chief adviser of the organization, has informed the media.
Besides, different television channels have taken special initiative to remember the late popular actor.
Salman Shah (Shahriar Chowdhury Emon: 19 September, 1971—6 September, 1996) was and still is a shining star in the sky of the country’s filmdom. Making his first appearance on the silver screen with the maiden film ‘Keyamat Theke Keyamat’ directed by Sohanur Rahman Sohan, he entered into the Bangladesh film industry and changed the typical image of a Bangladeshi hero.
Salman Shah, who is still a popular name among the fans and audience, took the film industry to a new horizon, where the film lovers of Bangladesh witnessed an individual with multitalented qualities to be a real hero. It was like they finally got their long-awaited romantic hero they were waiting for since long ago. He took the country’s filmdom by storm with his brilliant performances, won the hearts of thousands and brought the moviegoers back to the cinema halls. Bangladesh film industry and film lovers travelled through a new era of the film with the presence of Salman Shah and ultimately, he became a ‘dream star’ to many and heartthrob of Bangladesh’s silver screen within very short time.
His untimely death sent shockwaves across the film industry and his adoring fans.
In his short film career he acted in as many as 27 films and his most successful films are ‘Keyamat Theke Keyamat’, ‘Antorey Antorey’, ‘Bikkhov’, ‘Denmohor’, ‘Bichar Hobe’, ‘Tomake Chai’, ‘Jibon Shongshar’, ‘Chaowa Theke Paowa’ and ‘Anondo Osru’, among others.
