Man confesses to killing woman, daughter

Police arrested a man on Monday on charge of killing a woman and her daughter at Namuja Bhandaripara in Bogra sadar upazila on August 29. He confessed his involvement in the double murder.
The arrestee, Rezaul karim, 40, in his statement under Section 164 in the court of Additional Judicial Magistrate Shem Sundor Roy in Bogra, said he beat and strangled Kafiya Begum, 33, wife of Golam Mostafa and their seven-year-old daughter Aysha Khatun to death at Namuja Bhandaripara village on August 29, said Aslam Ali, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Bogra police station.
After confirming their death, Rezaul Karim covered the bodies with a mattress and fled the scene. Bogra police recovered the bodies in the afternoon that day, he added.
Rezaul Karim among three others entered the room on the night breaking the window for stealing something. They stole only Tk 700 from the room. When the woman and her daughter woke up and started screaming the thieves strangled them with pillows, the OC said.
