The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will not force any player of the Bangladesh women’s team to visit Pakistan.
A three-match ODI series and two Twenty20s are scheduled in the proposed tour in Pakistan from August 31 to September 11 for which the BCB are due to send a security team there.
“We are yet to get the nod from the government to send a security team,” BCB media and communication committee chairman Jalal Younus told the reporters yesterday.
“We are telling again and again that we won’t send the team until we are fully satisfied with the security measurement taken by the Pakistan.”
“And we won’t force any player to go there. If anybody chooses not to go, we’ll be okay with that. It’s completely the decision of the players whether they will go there or not.”
A security team from the BCB had visited Pakistan in March 2012 but the proposed tour for the men’s team in April was postponed for more than two years.
The cricketing relation with Pakistan was at its worst afterwards. Pakistan barred its players from taking part in BPL or Bangladesh’s domestic cricket as a consequence of the incident.
However the relation is in the line to revive once again after the visit of PCB’s new chairman Shahryar Khan. The PCB wants any cricket team of Bangladesh to visit there in order to help them revive the international cricket.
In this perspective, the BCB decides to send the women’s team there.
