Soccer League International (SLI), an England based event management group, is expected to sponsor the Bangladesh Premier League from next year. The SLI had the first meeting with BFF president Kazi Mohammed Salahuddin yesterday.
SLI, who came here with an objective to organise Bangladesh Super League (Franchise Football League), has now virtually agreed to sponsor the Bangladesh Premier League after a discussion with BFF president.
Through sponsoring the Bangladesh Premier League they will have experience all about the prospect of patronising Franchise Football League, as both BFF president and the officials of SLI agreed to start the process.
Salahuddin after a meeting with the chairman of SLI, Mohammed Kabir and Jonathon James, Chief Operating Officer (COO) said, “We have just started the meeting, I think it was a good meeting, so far everything is on right track. Basically, we have shaken hands with the proposal that they first of all will sponsor the next years’ Bangladesh Premier League.”
“Then we will again discuss about the BSL, Bangladesh Super League in different manner.”
“Right now we think we are in agreement on our dream and I think it will be good
for future.”
“Nothing is final, but in principle we have agreed to work together. Actually, they have lot of very good proposals, but it is not matter of ten minutes to solve, we have to go through a long way studying  their proposal, but it seems there is possibility for our long term partnership with them,” Salahuddin replied to a query.
“We have discussion on total football. I can’t give you detail right this moment because we have to settle many thing in our series of meeting with them. Finally we will give detail at a press conference, right now I can tell you it was an excellent meeting.”
“I think it is positive, because, they are very friendly, their attitude is excellent, my opinions and their opinions are similar, that’s why I said it is positive.”
“I don’t think there can be any problem when I came here, I had no experience, I heard players were demonstrating to play football there were no football, but for last seven years the league has been continuing. Let’s try them, anything can happen, they are professional people, they know their job,” Salahuddin said replying to a query.
Jonathon James, COO) of the SLI said, “We have an excellent meting with the president (BFF president). We will work collaborate, first with Bangladesh Premier League then after two years Bangladesh Super League.
“We have agreed to deal with Bangladesh Premier League, then involve in Bangladesh Super League. We are very happy to join in a meeting with an aim for development of football. We will work together, two years we will work with local league on developing the infrastructures. We will study on Super League while working with the premier league,” said Jonathon.
