NU 1st year honors exams to begin Oct 4

The first year honors examinations-2017 (regular, irregular and grade improvement) under National University (NU) will begin on October 4, according to a NU release issued in Dhaka yesterday.
The exams are scheduled to end on November 6, the release said.
Besides, special first year honors examinations-2016 (under academic sessions 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 for grade improvement) are scheduled to be held from October 8 to November 6.
Detailed information related to the examinations is available on the university website www.nu.edu.bd and www.nubd.info, the release added.

“Bangladesh National Debate Comptettion-17” from 12 Sept at RU
A three-day long “Bangladesh National Debate Competition-2017” will start at Rajshahi University (RU) on September 12.
In associaton with TIB (Transparency International Bangladesh), Group of Liberal Debaters Bangladesh (Gold-Bangladesh) will arrange the programme where more than fifty public and private universities debating groups have expected to participate in the programme.
Mass Communication and Journalism dept of RU Prof Mamun Abdul Kayum confirmed it through a press release on Saturday.
RU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr M Abdus Sobahn will inaugurate the programme as chief guest while pro vice chancellor Prof Dr Ananda Kumar Saha and Prof Dr Golam Rahan will present as special guest and chief discussant on the program.

CU admission process begins Sept 12
CHITTAGONG: The admission process of Chittagong University (CU) for the first-year honours courses under 2017-18 academic sessions will begin from September 12 and continue till October 4.
Chief of CU academic section SM Akbar Hossain, also the member secretary of the admission committee, said the admission tests would be held from October 26 to October 29. “CU from this session will conduct admission tests under only four units - Science, Business Studies, Humanities and Combined Unit instead of 10 in order to save money of the admission seekers", he added.
Admission seekers will have to register for the tests by sending a message (SMS) through any number of telecom operator Teletalk.

Gono Bishwabidyalay’s students distribute relief
The students of Gono Bishwabidyalay distributed relief among flood-hit people of Sirajganj recently, says a press release.
They distributed more than Taka one million among 254 flood victim families at Khokshabari of Sadar upazila in assistance with DC office and Jamuna Probaho, a local newspaper of Sirajganj.
Kamrun Nahar Siddika, district commissioner of Sirajganj, Sarker Mohammad Raihan, UNO of Sadar upazila and Mostafa Kamal, publisher and editor of Jamuna Probaho were present among others at the programme.  
Kamrun Nahar Siddika said “This effort of the students of the university would be an example for the service of flood victims”. She also thanked the students for their contribution.
A team of 16 members led by Aorko Sarker Amit, students of CSE Department collected the fund from teachers and students of Gono Bishwabidyalay, National Martyrs’ Memorial, Savar and EPZ areas.
 Another groups of students distributed relief materials.
