Muktamonis surgery successful

The doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) yesterday conducted a successful operation to 12-year old Muktamoni and removed the tumour from her right hand.
We have successfully conducted the third operation to Muktamoni and removed the tumour. Now there is no tumour on the hand of Muktamoni as all the tumours have been removed from her right hand, said Dr Samanta Lal Sen, national coordinator of the DMCHs Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit.
He said Muktamoni has been given four bags of bloods yesterday. Muktamoni has been kept at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital for round the clock observation. Dr Sen said four to five surgeries might be needed to completely cure the girl hailed from Satkhira, a southwestern district.
We have performed the second operation to Muktamoni on August 29 partially, as it could not be completed because the child was suffering from fever, he mentioned.
A seven member team of Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit began the operation at 9:30am and continued for about three hours.
Md Ibrahim Hossain said Muktamoni was well after the operation and spoken to him. He expressed his gratitude to the Almighty Allah and thanked the doctors. He also sought blessings of the countrymen for her early recovery.
On August 12, doctors at the DMCH had successfully completed the first surgery on the girls haemangioma tumour. Muktamoni was admitted to the DMCH on July 11. The doctors then did a biopsy and found a tumour in her right-hand blood vessels.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken the responsibility of the treatment costs of Muktamoni.
