An ex-family planning worker was hacked to death at Nalia village in Sadar upazila of Sylhet on Sunday evening, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Helen Sharma, 58, wife of late Moni Sharma of the village.
Mosharraf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Osmani airport police station, said on information, police recovered the body of Helen, which bore several injury marks, from her house.
Helen, who went on retirement in February, had been living alone in the house. Recently she withdrew Tk 82000 allowance of her freedom fighter husband and gave a portion of the money to her son.
