Lightning kills 3 in Khagrachhari
Khagrachhari: Three people including a father and his daughter were killed as lightning struck them at Milonkarbaripara area under Tobolchhari union of Matiranga upazila on Wednesday evening, reports UNB.
The deceased were identified as Nandamohan Tripura, 35, his daughter Lalita Tripura and Kallyan Chandra Tripura, cousin of Lalita.
Shaifur Rahman, on-duty doctor of Panchhari Upazila Health Complex said a thunderbolt struck them while it was raining and they were in and around their home around 6:45pm, leaving them critically injured.
Later locals rescued them and rushed them to the upazila health complex where doctor declared them death.
Lalita was a student of class seven of Tobolchhari Kadamtali T K High School and Kallyan was an intermediate second year student of Tobolchhari Greenhill College.
Man held with firearm

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 arrested an alleged gun runner with a shooter gun and two bullets from a mango orchard at Koilabari under Shibganj upazila of the district on Wednesday afternoon.
The arrested was identified as Md. Mizanur Rahman, 20, son of Md Mokhlesur Rahman of Naldubri village under Shibganj upazila.
RAB said, acting on secret information, an operation team of the force raided the aforesaid area around 4:45pm and arrested Mizanur Rahman with the firearm and ammunitions.
Later, the arrested person was handed over to the Shibganj Police Station after filing a case in this connection.
Road accident kills woman

A woman was killed in a road accident in Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj district yesterday.
The deceased was Bedena Khatun, 35, wife of Hadiul Islam of Borabor village in the upazila. The accident took place on Mirjapur-Mothkhola road at Bahadia around 11am.
Police and local sources said the accident occurred as Bedena Khatun was crushed under the wheels of a bus while she was getting off an easy bike in Bahadia area.
Confirming the incident Mohammad Samsuddin, officer-in-charge of Pakundia police station said no case was filed in this connection yet.
CI sheets distributed among fire affected families

A total of 54 bundles of corrugated iron (CI) sheet and Taka one lakh 62 thousands were distributed among fire affected families at Sonaher Prodhanabad village in Debiganj upazila of the district today.
Upazila administration arranged a programme at Upazila Parishad Hall Room on behalf of the Disaster and Relief Ministry.
Advocate Nurul Islam Sujon, MP, distributed the iron sheet and Taka among the fire victims as the chief guest. Each family got two bundles of tin and Taka 6000.
It is mentioned here that 80 houses of 27 families were gutted by a devastating fire at Prodhanabadh village under Debiganj upazila on August 29. Upazila chairman of Debiganj Hasnat Zaman Chowdary Jarje, UNO Firuzul Islam, upazila Awami League acting president Gias Uddin Chowdhury and local Awami League leaders were present.
On the other hand, The MP distributed Taka 2 lakh 20 thousand among the flood affected people in Debiganj upazila.
