Over 32,500 youths (both male and female) of the district became self-reliant receiving training and loan from the Department of Youth development (DYD) during the last 24 years since its inception in the district, reports BSS.
Deputy Director of DYD Kaisar Ali told BSS recently that the department during the last 24 years imparted institutional and non-institutional training to 45,860 youths (both male and female) on different trades in the district.
The training course included dress making, block-batik, printing, dairy and poultry farming, pisciculture, computer programming, electronics, electrical and house wiring, refrigerator and air condition fixing, plumbing, nursery and agricultural training.
Ali said the local DYD so far provided easy term loan of about Taka 10 crore (revolving fund) to 29,200 trained youths on different income generating projects. He said over 32,500 youths (both male and female) in the six upazilas of the district are now self-reliant.
