DSEX hits 6000 with Tk 909cr turnover

The broader price index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) crossed 6,000-point mark for the first time as the daily trade volume rose at the end of the week yesterday, reports BSS.
DSEX finished the week with 121.01 points up at 6,006.43, the highest since the introduction of the DSEX on January 27, 2013.
The DSES for Shariah-based companies and DS30 for the blue chip scrips also followed the upward trend with 16.47 points up at 1322.09 and 27.38 points up at 2138.73 respectively.
The daily average trade value at DSE was 9.1 per cent up at Tk 908.99 crore and the trade volume was 18.7 per cent up at 27.41 crore shares.
Out of the 333 traded securities, 202 closed higher against 109 losing issues when 22 remained unchanged.
During the week, the top five gainers were Standard Ceramic, Monno Ceramics, Zeal Bangla, Dulamia Cotton and Imam Button. The five major losing companies were ATCSLGF, First Finance, Fine Foods, PHARMAD and JMISMDL.
The top five turnover leaders were Lanka Bangla Finance, Fortune, BBS Cables, BBS and IFIC.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week with upward trend with its major CASPI index ending 344.16 points higher at 18,604.76.
Like DSE, most of the issues traded here closed higher when both the trade value and volume of shares increased.
