Cities ready to celebrate Eid

RAJSHAHI: Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC), district administration and all other ogrnisations concerned have chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the holy Eid-ul-Azha in the city with due fervor and enthusiasm, reports BSS.

The main Eid jamaat will be held at Shah Makhdum Central Eidgah Maidan at 8 am. However, the biggest Eid congregation will be held at Darga Mosque in case of inclement weather.

The second and third largest congregations will be held at Shaheb Bazar zero point and Tikapara Eidgah Maidan at 8-15 am. The other Eid jamaats will be held at Rajshahi University, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Rajshahi Court Eidgah, Rajshahi Stadium, Shalbagan Eidgah, New Market Jame

Mosque, Police Line Math, Upashahar Eidgah Maidan and Rajarhata Jame Mosque. Over 150 Eid-ul-Azha jamaats are scheduled to be held at the traditional and temporary venues in the Rajshahi metropolis under the supervision of the respective Eid jamaat committees. To make the city's Eid congregations a success, Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) is extending necessary cooperation for making arrangements for the decoration of about 100 Eid jamaats.

The city corporation will decorate the entire city roads and islands with national flags and banners inscribed with "Eid-Mubarak" in Bangla and Arabic. Rajshahi Metropolitan Police and RAB have taken all-out security measures for peaceful celebration of Eid-ul-Azha. Marking the celebration, special diets will be served to the inmates of different hospitals, jails and Government Shishu Sadan.

RCC has selected 210 places for slaughtering sacrificial animals in the Eid-Ul Azha in 30 Wards of the city.

The city corporation authority urged the RCC is determined to safe removal of sacrificial animals waste within 24 hours in the city and it has adopted massive measures to this end. Eid vacation of all the officers and staffs of conservancy section has been cancelled, said Musaddique Hossain Bulbul, Mayor of RCC. Another report adds from Rangpur: The authorities concerned are working sincerely to complete preparations for holding Eid-ul-Azha jamaats (congregations) at over 1,000 eidgahs and mosques here amid tight security measures on Saturday next.

“The Muslims will take part in the Eid-ul-Azha congregations and sacrifice animals in the city and all eight upazilas of the district as elsewhere in the country,” divisional deputy director of Islamic Foundation Abul Kalam Azad said yesterday.

According to the district administration officials, adequate steps are being taken to ensure peaceful celebrations of the religious festivity by deploying police, Ansar-VDP and RAB forces and volunteers. The national flag will be hoisted atop all government, semi-government and private buildings and mosques, eidgahs, streets and major buildings be illuminated and decorated with colourful flags.

Our Staff reporter adds from Barisal: The main Eid Jamat in the city will be held at  Hemayet Uddin Eidgah Maidan at 8am.

BCC mayor,  local MPs and other social and political personalities, high-ranking government  officials will participate there.

BCC Mayor Ahsan Habib Kamal will welcome them. All the preparation of Main Eid Jamat already completed. Double Eid Jamats were arranged at Zame Ebaedullah Mosque, Zame Kasai Mosque, Baitul Mokarram Mosque, Police Line and Nuria School Mosque between 8 to 9:30 am.

They are the followers of Kaderia, Jahangiria and Chistia Tarika and Pir of Elahabad Sufia Darbarsharif at Kanchan Nagor and Pir Shaheb of Mariachi Darbar Sharif of Satkania under Chittagong district.

Golam Mir Md Fazlul Huq, another local leader said they will celebrate Eid ul Azha one day before the other sects according to the direction of their Pir Shaheb of Mariachi Darbar Sharif.
